The entrance of the Gran Hotel Almeria is shown with its name prominently displayed above glass doors, flanked by potted plants and set against a light grey tiled facade.

Ohtels Hotels & Resorts has officially opened the Gran Hotel Almería.

Following a comprehensive renovation that began in October 2024 and was carried out both inside and outside the establishment.

The renovation has resulted in an increase in the number of rooms. The establishment previously had 105 rooms and has added another 7.

The Gran Hotel Almería, which opened in 1967, was the first 4-star hotel in the city and has since become one of the most iconic in the area. The hotel chain acquired the property in 2018.

As part of the comprehensive renovation project, all the facilities have been remodeled, giving a new look to the rooms and adding seven to the 105 already existing.

Another major change has been the hotel's facade, and the restaurant has been modernized, turning it into a Gastro Bar to enjoy typical Almerian food.

Sustainability has also been key in this renovation, so more solar panels and systems have been installed to reduce energy and water consumption, continuing Ohtels' Sustainability Plan which aims to reduce the carbon footprint.

In addition, the company seeks to consume sustainable, compostable, biodegradable, ecological and recycled products, along with responsible consumption and the use of locally sourced products in the hotel restaurant.

"Our intention is for Gran Hotel Almería to once again be what it was: an iconic hotel for the city of Almería, but in a more modern and sustainable way thanks to the renovation," said Ohtels CEO Eduard Farriol during the opening event that took place on June 26.

Ohtels Hotels & Resorts, based in Salou (Tarragona), has 11 hotels spread across Catalonia and Andalusia, all located in strategic points on the Spanish coast, as well as important urban centers of the country.
